Zozo l’éléphanteau à la montagne
Zozo the baby elephant in the mountains
Aujourd’hui, il fait très froid. Il y a de la neige partout sur la montagne.
Zozo, ce petit éléphanteau curieux, est très excité : il part faire du ski pour la première fois !
Il enfile ce gros manteau rouge, ces gants bleus, ces bottes épaisses et ce bonnet rayé.
Il attache ses skis, prend ses bâtons, et grimpe dans ce vieux traîneau tiré par un robot rigolo.
It’s very cold today. There’s snow all over the mountain.
Zozo, this curious little elephant, is very excited: he’s going skiing for the first time!
He puts on this big red coat, these blue gloves, these thick boots, and this striped hat.
He straps on his skis, grabs his poles, and climbs into this old sled pulled by a funny robot.
– « Brrrr… ça glisse déjà ! » dit Zozo avec un frisson.
– Attention ! répond le robot, dans deux heures, la neige va tomber encore plus fort !
Au sommet, Zozo regarde le paysage.
C’est magnifique : il y a du soleil, mais le vent souffle fort.
– « Brrrr… it’s already slippery! » says Zozo with a shiver.
« Watch out! » replies the robot. « In two hours, the snow will fall even harder! »
At the summit, Zozo looks out at the landscape.
It’s magnificent: it’s sunny, but the wind is blowing hard.
Il pousse sur ses bâtons et… Wouuuuushhhh ! Le voilà parti à toute vitesse !
– Youhouuuuu ! crie Zozo, les oreilles au vent.
Mais au virage, il perd l’équilibre…
PLOUF ! Zozo tombe dans un gros tas de neige.
– Ah non ! Mes skis !
He pushes on his poles and… Woohoo! Off he goes, full speed ahead!
« Whoohoo! » shouts Zozo, his ears in the wind.
But as he turns, he loses his balance…
PLUMP! Zozo falls into a big pile of snow.
« Oh no! My skis! »
Il rigole et se relève tant bien que mal.
Un garçon lui tend la main :
– Tu vas bien ?
– Oui, merci ! C’est juste que ce bonnet me couvre les yeux !
He laughs and gets up as best he can.
A boy offers him his hand:
“Are you okay?”
“Yes, thanks! It’s just that this hat is covering my eyes!”
Après le ski, Zozo rejoint ses amis pour faire un bonhomme de neige.
Ils prennent cette carotte pour le nez, ces cailloux pour les yeux, et ce vieux chapeau trouvé dans le chalet.
Le bonhomme s’appelle Maurice.
Il a l’air sérieux mais très gentil.
After skiing, Zozo joins his friends to build a snowman.
They use this carrot for a nose, these pebbles for eyes, and this old hat they found in the chalet.
The snowman’s name is Maurice.
He looks serious but very kind.
Ensuite, place à la luge !
Zozo grimpe sur une grande luge rouge, crie « À l’abordaaaaage » et ZIPPP, il dévale la pente.
BOUM ! Il atterrit doucement dans la poudreuse.
– Demain, je reviendrai avec mon cousin et ma cousine, dit-il tout fier.
– Tu veux dire ceux qui vivent au bord du lac? demande le robot.
– Oui, ceux-là adorent la neige aussi !
Next, it’s time for sledding!
Zozo climbs onto a big red sled, shouts « All aboard! » and ZIPP, he hurtles down the slope.
BOOM! He lands gently in the powder.
« Tomorrow, I’ll come back with my cousin, » he says proudly.
« You mean the ones who live by the lake? » asks the robot.
« Yes, they love the snow too! »
Dans le chalet, il boit un chocolat chaud bien mérité.
Ce moment est parfait.
Cette journée est pleine de souvenirs rigolos.
Il écrit dans son carnet :
Aujourd’hui, j’ai ri, j’ai glissé, j’ai volé, je suis tombé, j’ai adoré.
Demain, il fera encore froid, mais Zozo reviendra… avec ce sourire-là, bien accroché sous sa trompe !
In the chalet, he drinks a well-deserved hot chocolate.
This moment is perfect.
This day is full of funny memories.
He writes in his notebook:
Today, I laughed, I slipped, I flew, I fell, I loved it.
Tomorrow, it will still be cold, but Zozo will come back… with that smile, firmly tucked under his trunk!
