Victor le Wapiti va à l’école!
Victor the Elk goes to school!
Il est 8h00 du matin, et Victor le wapiti se réveille.
Il regarde l’heure sur son talkie-walkie.
« Waouh ! Je vais être en retard ! » s’écrie-t-il.
Il prend son sandwich au kiwi, met son sac à dos et se précipite dehors.
Il doit arriver à la gare avant que le wagon scolaire ne parte.
It’s 8:00 a.m., and Victor the elk is waking up.
He checks the time on his walkie-talkie.
« Wow! I’m going to be late! » he exclaims.
He grabs his kiwi sandwich, puts on his backpack, and rushes outside.
He has to get to the station before the school bus leaves.
Victor court à travers la forêt.
Il voit un autre wapiti qui s’entraîne à jouer au water-polo.
« Viens jouer avec moi ! », lui dit son ami.
Mais Victor répond :
« Désolé, je vais à l’école ! »
Il continue de courir et traverse la rivière, où il voit un canard qui nage.
« Waouh, l’eau est froide ! », pense-t-il en plongeant une patte dans l’eau.
Victor runs through the forest.
He sees another elk practicing water polo.
« Come play with me! » his friend tells him.
But Victor replies,
« Sorry, I’m going to school! »
He keeps running and crosses the river, where he sees a duck swimming.
« Wow, the water is cold! » he thinks, dipping a paw in.
Victor arrive enfin à la gare de la forêt.
Il monte dans le wagon scolaire et s’assoit près d’un gros kiwi.
Il regarde par la fenêtre et voit un écureuil qui court avec un sandwich dans la bouche.
« C’est un drôle de petit-déjeuner ! » pense Victor.
Victor finally arrives at the forest station.
He gets into the school car and sits down next to a large kiwi.
He looks out the window and sees a squirrel running around with a sandwich in its mouth.
« That’s a funny breakfast! » thinks Victor.
Le train arrive à l’école, et tous les élèves se précipitent à l’intérieur.
Victor va dans sa classe.
La maîtresse, une chouette très sage, lui dit :
« Victor, tu es enfin arrivé ! »
Le wapiti s’assoit à son bureau et prend son livre.
Il voit que tous les autres élèves sont prêts à commencer.
The train arrives at school, and all the students rush inside.
Victor goes to his classroom.
The teacher, a very wise owl, says to him,
« Victor, you’ve finally arrived! »
The elk sits down at his desk and picks up his book.
He sees that all the other students are ready to begin.
« Alors, aujourd’hui, nous allons parler des animaux de la forêt, » dit la maîtresse.
« Qui peut me dire quel animal aime nager ? »
Victor lève la patte et dit :
« Le canard, bien sûr ! »
Waouh, quelle bonne réponse ! », répond la maîtresse en souriant.
« So, today we’re going to talk about forest animals, » says the teacher.
« Who can tell me which animal likes to swim? »
Victor raises his paw and says,
« The duck, of course! »
« Wow, what a good answer! » replies the teacher, smiling.
Pendant la récréation, Victor joue à cache-cache avec ses amis.
Il voit un autre wapiti qui se cache derrière un arbre.
« Je te vois ! », dit-il en éclatant de rire.
Puis, il entend la cloche de l’école.
« C’est déjà l’heure de rentrer ! », dit-il à ses amis.
During recess, Victor is playing hide-and-seek with his friends.
He sees another elk hiding behind a tree.
« I see you! » he says, bursting into laughter.
Then he hears the school bell.
« It’s already time to go home! » he tells his friends.
Victor monte dans le wagon scolaire pour rentrer chez lui.
Il pense à sa journée et se dit :
« Aujourd’hui, c’était super ! »
En rentrant, il se promet de revenir le lendemain avec un grand sourire, car à l’école, il apprend de nouvelles choses chaque jour.
Victor boards the school bus to go home.
He reflects on his day and says to himself,
« Today was great! »
As he walks home, he promises himself to come back the next day with a big smile, because at school, he learns new things every day.
